Indoor/outdoor reliability
The Handicare 1000 straight stairlift is at home inside, or outside. It features an aluminum rail with hidden gear rack for a streamlined look and weather protection. The battery-powered rack and pinion drive is smooth and reliable. In addition to the standard seat, for indoor use, you can also select a Perch seat to ride the lift in a semi-standing position – great for those who find it difficult to transition from standing to sitting. For heavier users, the Handicare 1000 offers a 440 lb high-capacity option.

Standard features and finish
- You can control the stairlift with the toggle on the armrest
- The seat, footrest, and arms fold up to keep the lift compact when not in use
- Comes with two remote controls which allow you to summon the lift up or down as needed
- The Handicare 1000 operates on battery power with built-in charging at the top and bottom of the stairs. If there is a power failure, the stairlift will provide several up and down trips
Additional Options
Power Footrest
Choose a power folding footrest to add to your Handicare 1000 if you find it difficult to bend down to fold the footrest.
Power Swivel
The power seat swivel turns the seat at the top landing using the toggle switch, rather than the manual seat swivel handle.
Rail Extension Brackets
If you have a door near the top landing of your stairlift, rail extension brackets can be added to reduce the intrusion of the rail.
Heavy duty capacity option
The Handicare 1000 features a standard 350 lb capacity, and an optional upgrade to 440 lb. Note that the Perch seat has a maximum 300 lb capacity.
Outdoor package
If you live in a moderate climate, the Handicare 1000 can be installed outside. Comes with UV-protected plastic parts, zinc-coated hardware, weather-resistant slate coloured vinyl seat and cover.
Power Hinge
A power folding hinge keeps the bottom landing area free of a tripping hazard if you have a doorway at the bottom of the stairs.
1000 Seat Options
The Handicare 1000 comes with the Smart seat, a compact-looking seat with a choice of three colors: cacao, sand or slate. The Smart seat can be adjusted for height, armrest width and seat depth. If you find it hard to bend down to sit, the Perch seat provides support and safety while you ride the lift semi-standing. A 5-point safety harness is also available for more security.

Safety features
- An obstacle sensor on the footrest and carriage stops the lift if it encounters an obstruction.
- The seat swivels and locks for safe deboarding at the top of the stairs.
- The footrest includes non-skid covering and the seat includes a retractable seat belt.
- An overspeed governor ensures the lift does not exceed rated speed on the descent.
